AirPlay connectivity problems typically occur due to three main reasons:

1. Devices are not on the same network

Typically, the AirPlay service name won’t appear if devices aren’t connected to the same network (same subnet or same vlan)—unless you’re using AirPlay with BLE support, which enables connections across subnets.

2. Required ports are occupied by another application

The AirPlay service name appears, and the IP address seems correct when checked using a service discovery tool, but you’re unable to establish a connection.

3. The AirPlay service name points to another device

The service name is visible, but it is pointing to an IP address belonging to another device. This generally results in failed connections.

Steps to Clearly Diagnose the Issue:

– Verify that the service name appears (indicating the network is functioning).

– Use a DNS-SD discovery tool to confirm the IP address corresponds to the intended device.

– Ensure that required ports (typically 7000 and 7100) are open and in use by your app.
